Code of Conduct

DrupalCampNYC 2021 is an event where all participants can freely and openly share ideas in a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment that encourages and inspires mutual respect and collaboration. Attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and others are required to treat all conference participants with dignity and respect.

Misunderstandings sometimes do occur and people should work things out between themselves in a courteous and respectful manner whenever possible. For support or assistance, seek the advice of a mutually-trusted third party or a designated community volunteer.

We do not tolerate harassment in any form. If you feel threatened or violated as a result of intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct, please immediately notify a conference organizer or a designated community volunteer. Further, please immediately notify an organizer if you notice that someone else is being subjected to such behavior.

The designated community volunteers for handling code of conduct concerns for DrupalCampNYC 2021 are:

This year the organizing team is fortunate to have both JD and AmyJune who have had Code of Conduct training organized by the Drupal Community Working Group (CWG).

If your concern is not resolved to your satisfaction, we encourage you to contact the Drupal CWG: drupal-cwg@drupal.org

The DrupalCampNYC 2021 team wants everyone to feel safe for the duration of the conference. If necessary, conference organizers are empowered to take appropriate actions that may include but are not limited to: warnings, expulsion from the conference without refund, and referrals to venue security or local law enforcement.

Attendees will be held accountable to any existing CWG agreements.

Photography/recording policy

Any photography/recording that is legally allowed in public spaces is allowed at DrupalCampNYC 2021, subject to any restrictions of our event venue, which may include no photography/recording in common areas (e.g. hallways).

However, anyone photographing or recording must abide by participants’ willingness to be photographed. In particular, pay attention to lanyard color. A red lanyard indicates that you must not record or photograph the individual wearing that lanyard.

Photography/recording should be treated like other potentially harassing interpersonal interactions. That is, when one person in the interaction says “stop” or “leave me alone” (etc.), the interaction must end. In this case, attendees should not attempt to photograph that individual again.

Photography/recording shouldn’t be done in such a way as to hide from the subject that it’s happening.

If you mistakenly photograph someone in a red lanyard or at the request of any person attending the event, the photo/footage/etc. of them must be deleted immediately.

Violations of the photography/recording policy should be addressed as harassment in the context of this code of conduct.

Concerning digital spaces

All guidelines mentioned in this document also apply to DrupalCampNYC’s many digital spaces, including (but not limited to):

  • Slack (public and private channels)
  • Google Meet rooms or other virtual conferencing platforms and spaces such as Zoom
  • Open source contribution spaces

In these spaces, the code of conduct expectations extend year-round, regardless of the scheduled dates of the camp proper.

Trolling and Spamming

Behaving/posting in a way that is intentionally disruptive or antagonistic is unacceptable and will result in expulsion from the event.

Security and Privacy

Respect the security of our digital spaces. Attempts to gain or grant unauthorized access to private or privileged areas is strictly prohibited.

Respect the privacy of our community members. Sharing sensitive or personal information threatens the safety of our community members. This includes information such as private email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, passwords, etc. This may also extend to images, videos, or private messages shared without the consent of involved parties.

The DrupalCampNYC 2021 team reserves the right to remove any content that violates these expectations.
